cashay. She requested this forever ago and probably doesn't even remember requesting it. I meant to have this up for her birthday on Saturday but we all know how well things like that always work out.
It was the same bench in the same park. Always the same. It was easier for him.
It was chilly out today and he had left his jacket at home. The breeze made him shiver. He didn’t want to leave though. Being here was his favorite thing to do.
“Is anyone sitting here?”
Adam waved a hand at the empty spot on the bench next to him. “It’s all yours.”
“Thank you.”
He could feel the man sit down next to him, the heat radiating off of him. He wanted to move closer but he resisted. Another breeze wafted by and Adam shivered again. He jumped when he felt the man’s hand touch him, placing something on him.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you. You looked cold so I put my jacket on you.”
The jacket was warm and smelled like the man, and Adam pulled it more firmly around him. “Thank you.”
“Do you come here often?”
“Every day.”
“I’ve never seen you here before.”
Adam raised an eyebrow. “I’ve never seen you here before either.”
The man chuckled. Adam liked the sound of it. It was rich and not too deep.
“My name is Michael,” the man said, placing a hand on Adam’s arm and running it down to Adam’s hand to shake.
“Adam.”
“Nice to meet you, Adam.”
“You too, Michael.”
Michael took his hand back and they sat side by side silently. Adam was warmer now so he was able to sit back and relax. He heard rustling and figured that Michael was probably now reading a newspaper.
Michael seemed decent enough so Adam allowed his mind to wander the way it normally did. He liked to think about the books he had just read, though his selection was limited. He used a lot of audio books too though. Here at the park was where he dissected them, when he let his thoughts wander.
In all honesty, it was the only place he felt like he could truly be himself. His brothers and his mother were overprotective because of his disability. It was sometimes too stifling being at home even though his brothers didn’t even live there. They were over often enough that it sure felt like they lived there.
About half an hour had passed when Michael stood up. “Maybe I’ll see you here again, Adam.” Adam stood up and shrugged out of the jacket.
“You should keep that. It’s still chilly out.”
Adam snorted. “If I keep this then I have to answer a lot of questions when I get home and I don’t really want to deal with that.” Adam held out the jacket for Michael to take.
“No, I guess you wouldn’t want that. They probably wouldn’t approve, would they.”
Adam shook his head. “No they wouldn’t.”
“Enjoy the rest of your day, Adam.”
“Thanks. You too, Michael.”
It was a lot colder now that he didn’t have Michael’s jacket. He would have to remember to bring his own tomorrow. Cutting his time at the park short, he grabbed his walking stick and headed home.
Sam and Dean were still at work. Thankfully their mother was still at work as well. Adam had the house to himself. It was a relief to have the house to himself. He loved his family, but they were a bit much at times. He knew it was because they loved him and they wanted him to be safe, but Adam sometimes felt like he was a prisoner here. The only time he was ever able to get away was during his trips to the park. They didn’t even want him doing that, but Adam had insisted. He had fought with his mother long and hard for the right to go to the park on his own. She would probably make him stop going if she knew that a strange man had not only talked to him but had also lent him his jacket.
Adam hadn’t really wanted to give the jacket back either. It was stupid, but the jacket had made him feel warm and safe. Michael had smelled good. It was the kind of good where you could just bury your nose in his neck and just sigh. Not that Adam had considered doing that or anything.
Adam had a good nose and he could tell that Michael wasn’t trying to impress anyone with cologne. He hadn’t been wearing any. That scent had been all Michael. Well, and Michael’s body wash. Still, the man was comfortable in his own skin.
Michael was a big guy too. Not necessarily in height, at least not compared to Adam. Adam was a tall guy, but he was a bit on the scrawny side. He could be worse, but he could also be better. Michael’s jacket had been big on him so he figured that Michael was wider than him. He was probably all muscles.
Adam entertained himself for a few minutes picturing what Michael could possibly look like and then imagined what it would be like to be held in those strong arms and to smell that man every day.
Adam came crashing back to reality when he heard Sam walk in. It was stupid to indulge in a fantasy like that anyway.
Sam started rambling about his day and Adam was pretending to listen. Adam knew that finding someone to love and who loved him back would be a difficult task. It was only made worse by the fact that he hadn’t yet told his family that it wasn’t soft curves that he was interested in.
Picturing what Michael looked like was pointless, as was imagining what it would be like to be held by him and kissed by him. Hell, he would probably never see the guy again.
*****
Adam’s senses were overwhelmed with the scent of coffee and Michael. He smiled in the direction the smell was coming from. “Hello, Michael.”
“How did you know?” Michael sounded surprised. Adam chuckled. “Honestly? I could smell you.”
“So you’re telling me that I stink?” he asked as he sat down next to Adam.
“Actually, you smell nice. I just happen to remember it from yesterday.”
“That’s impressive.”
Adam smiled at the compliment. He felt Michael place a hand on his arm and then slide down towards his hand. Then a cup was being pressed into his hand. “I didn’t know what you liked but you seemed like a mocha kind of guy.”
Adam laughed. “Well you weren’t wrong.”
“Good.”
Adam could hear the smile in Michael’s voice. He was under the impression that it wasn’t something Michael did often. Adam was pretty good at reading people even if he couldn’t see them.
“I see you remembered your jacket today.”
“I think I prefer yours.” Adam cursed himself mentally, wishing he could take back what he had just said. He was flirting with a complete stranger and one that might not even be similarly inclined. It was a good way to get his ass kicked.
Michael just chuckled though. Adam liked the way Michael seemed to relax around him. When Michael had first joined him on the bench yesterday, Adam could feel how tense he was. During the brief time they had talked, Michael had relaxed. Adam was relaxed around Michael too, and if Dean ever found out, Adam would probably get a really good ass kicking sandwiched in between lectures. He could understand where Dean was coming from. It wasn’t as if Adam knew anything about Michael. Still, Michael felt more like a protector rather than someone who would hurt him.
Adam heard the rustle of the newspaper and smiled as he drank his mocha. He could get used to this, sitting on the bench next to Michael as Michael read the paper and Adam drank the coffee that Michael had brought for him.
Adam scolded himself. There he was imagining what it might be like to be with Michael again. He really needed to stop doing that
Adam heard Michael folding up his paper and he knew that Michael was getting ready to leave. So he was surprised when Michael asked him a question. “You didn’t want to wear my jacket home yesterday because there would be a lot of questions. Is your family overprotective of you because of your condition?”
Adam snorted. “Overprotective is an understatement. Sam isn’t so bad but Dean can sometimes be worse than my mother.”
“Sam and Dean are your brothers?”
“Half-brothers, actually. Their father died when they were younger and their mother even before that. My mom was nice enough to take them in. I think she had really loved their father.”
“I take it they’re both older.”
Adam nodded. “Dean is the oldest.”
“I have three brothers and they are all younger than me. Lucifer, Raphael, and Gabriel. I think if any of them had your condition, then I might act similarly to the way Dean acts.”
“Well I guess it’s good to know that it’s not just them.”
“I should probably be going now.”
Adam turned his head away from Michael. “Will I see you again tomorrow?” he dared to ask.
“Do you want to see me again tomorrow?”
Adam turned his head back towards Michael and bit his lip. He wanted to tell Michael that yes he wanted to see him, but he didn’t want to push if Michael didn’t want to see him.
Michael put a hand on his shoulder and squeezed. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Adam.”
Adam couldn’t hold back a smile as Michael got up and walked away. Even if things didn’t go the way the fantasy in his head went, at least he was making a friend. He didn’t have any. It was kind of sad but Adam didn’t mind too much. He liked his solitude. Michael seemed to give him the best of both worlds. With Michael he had someone to talk to but at the same time there was no pressure to talk. Adam could sit there with Michael and get lost in his own thoughts if he wanted to. It was nice.
*****
Adam was nervous. In fact, Adam didn’t remember ever having been this nervous. A few weeks into their daily park bench talks, Michael had asked Adam if he would like to accompany him to lunch. Adam had agreed without really thinking and now he was nervous.
He had never been out to a meal with anyone other than his family. Michael handled him well so far, but Adam didn’t know if Michael would do as well in a restaurant.
He smelled Michael as he approached and smiled. Adam stood up and Michael guided Adam’s hand to his elbow so he could lead him.
“You’re nervous.” Apparently Adam wasn’t the only one who was good at reading people. He didn’t see the point in lying. “I’ve never been to a restaurant with anyone who wasn’t my family.”
“Are you afraid that I’m going to get you served liver or some other disgusting food?” There was a touch of amusement in his voice so at least Michael wasn’t offended.
“Maybe,” he answered slyly, his fears about their lunch date alleviated. Adam didn’t know if it was a date in the sense of romance, but he hoped it was and he thought that it might be.
“Would you prefer to sit inside or outside?”
“Outside if we can.”
“I figured as much.”
“So do I get to know what the guy I’m going to lunch with looks like?” Adam asked casually. Michael let out a chuckle, a sound that Adam had really grown to love. “There’s nothing exciting about me. I have dark brown hair, short, and dark brown eyes. I’m tan. No freckles, no dimples. Would you like to touch my face?”
Adam blushed at the question despite it being a way to figure out what people looked like. “Maybe later.” Then to help compensate for the blush, he decided to tease Michael a bit. “Are you hairy?” Michael actually laughed at that. He had never heard Michael laugh before.
“Are you sure you don’t want to find that one out on your own?” Michael asked, voice low and growling in his ear. Adam felt his blush deepen as he cleared his throat, unable to come up with anything clever to say.
“Ah, the blushing virgin.”
Adam bristled at the comment. “What makes you so sure that I’m a virgin?”
“Am I wrong?”
Adam didn’t say anything, his good mood fading away. Michael stopped and turned Adam to face him. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you.”
Before Adam could reply, Michael had one of his hands in his own and was raising it to his face. He pulled Adam’s walking stick out of his hand and put that hand to his face as well. Adam ran his fingers through Michael’s hair first, wanting to see just how short it was. It was long enough that Adam could run his fingers through it. He liked that. He moved his fingers to Michael’s forehead, slowly tracing his way down over Michael’s eyes, then his nose, his cheek, his full lips, and then his jaw, which was smooth.
Michael tilted his head down and kissed the tips of Adam’s fingers.
“Does it bother you that I’m a virgin?”
“No.”
Adam could feel Michael’s lips and jaws move beneath his fingers.
“How can it not? I know you’re older than me but I’m not sure by how much.”
“I’m thirty-two.”
“And I’m only twenty-one.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
Adam didn’t know whether or not he should believe Michael. He had known Michael was older than him but he hadn’t realized by how much.
“Can I have my walking stick back?” It was the only thing he could think of to say. Things felt awkward between them now and he hated how that felt. Michael pressed the walking stick back into his hand and took Michael’s free hand to his elbow again.
They finally made it to the restaurant and Michael helped him to his seat, managing to keep him from bumping into anything. That was rare, though he suspected his brothers probably did it on purpose quite often.
Michael asked Adam what he typically liked to eat and then read him off choices based on that.
“Have you ever had experience with a blind person before?”
“Can’t say that I have.”
“Well you’re very good at it.”
“Thank you. I’ve been trying.”
Adam nodded. It showed.
“So Adam, what do your brothers do?” Michael asked after they had ordered their food.
“Dean is a mechanic and Sam is a lawyer. And before you ask, my mother is a nurse.”
“Do your brothers live at home?”
“No, but it sure feels like they do. They’re over all the time. They’re there every night for dinner.”
“Keeping an eye on you?”
“Yeah, probably. What do your brothers do?”
“Gabriel is a chocolatier, Lucifer is a lawyer, and Raphael is a CEO.”
“I wonder if Sam knows Lucifer. I can’t ask him though.”
“I will ask Lucifer if he knows your brother.”
“So what is it that you do, Michael?”
Michael grinned at him. “I’m a private detective of sorts.”
The food arrived and with Michael’s directions, Adam was able to find everything on the plate without a problem.
“Adam, can I ask you a kind of personal question?”
Adam shrugged.
“Does your family know that you’re gay?”
Adam shook his head but stayed quiet.
“Don’t you think you should tell them?”
Adam let out a sigh. “I feel like I would just be adding to the burden.”
He could feel Michael’s eyes on him. It made him squirm in his seat.
“Do you think they would take it badly? I would think that they would be happy as long as you’re happy since they know love probably won’t come easily to you.”
Adam could feel tears beginning to form so he took a long drink of water until he had himself under control.
“I didn’t mean to upset you. I would just like to take you out for dinner.”
“Oh,” Adam replied, surprised. “I guess I’ll talk to them. Maybe this weekend.” Adam shook his head. “They’re not going to like this. There’s no way they’re going to like this. There’s no way they’re going to be okay with me going on a date.”
“I could come over for dinner if they would feel more comfortable with that.”
“Why? Why would you do that?”
Michael’s hand grasped his own. “Because I like you and I get the feeling we would be good together.”
Adam slumped in his chair. He couldn’t argue with that. “Just give me a few days to work up the nerve.”
“I will still meet you in the park until then, if that’s okay. We can talk about it more.”
Adam nodded. “Yeah. Okay. We can do that.”
After lunch was over Michael escorted him back to the park bench so that he could find his way home. Before leaving him though, Michael had kissed him, a sweet, albeit short, kiss. Adam smiled all the way home.
Dinner was the usual chaos and Adam was quiet like he always was. Nobody noticed anything different as long as he hid his smile. A couple of times Adam almost brought up the subject of his sexuality but he just couldn’t do it. Not yet. He wanted to talk to Michael some more first.
That night he dreamed of Michael.
*****
Adam waited excitedly on the bench for Michael. He smiled when the scent of coffee and Michael reached him. Michael sat down next to him, pressed the coffee into his hand, and curled a hand around the back of Adam’s neck. Michael kissed Adam’s cheek before moving to his lips. The kiss was longer than the one they had shared yesterday but it was just as sweet and left Adam smiling.
“I talked to Lucifer last night. It would seem he does know Sam.”
“Really?”
“In fact, according to Lucifer they’re seeing each other.”
Adam froze. He hadn’t expected that. He had only ever seen Sam out with girls. Was his brother into both? Did Dean know about this? Did his mom know about this? He hadn’t even known Sam was in a relationship.
“I didn’t even know Sam was into guys. I didn’t know he was in a relationship either.”
“Something to keep in mind when you decide to tell your family.”
“I’m going to tell them tonight.”
“Are you sure?”
“They can’t keep me from seeing you. I’m legally an adult. So yeah, I’ll tell them and I’ll also tell them that you’re coming over for dinner. And they’re just going to have to deal with it. Besides, this just means I’ll be able to get more kisses from you.”
Michael wrapped an arm around his shoulders and whispered in his ear. “Oh you’ll be able to get a lot more than that.” He pressed a kiss to Adam’s neck, just below his ear, and Adam shivered. “Okay.”
Michael chuckled and kissed his cheek. They spent the rest of their time together quietly, Michael reading his newspaper and Adam sipping his coffee. Every once in a while, Michael would lean over and pull Adam into a kiss. By the time Michael left him, Adam felt like he had been dreaming. The thought of going home and telling his family about Michael made him all too aware of the fact that this wasn’t a dream. He hoped that things would go well over dinner.
The food was hot and delicious. Sam was talking about a case that he was working on. Everyone was happy. Adam had been sitting there trying to figure out the best way to approach the subject. He hadn’t been able to figure out a good way to do it yet.
“I’m gay,” he blurted out. Conversation stopped and he could feel everyone looking at him. He definitely hadn’t meant to do that. He had no idea how that had just happened. It had just come out. He may as well continue though since everyone around him was silent.
“I’ve met someone too. His name is Michael. I met him in the park. He wants to take me out on a date. He wants to meet you guys too.” Adam was still greeted by silence. “Isn’t anyone going to say anything?”
Like a dam breaking, everyone started talking at once. Adam could follow easily though. They discussed him like he wasn’t even there. They decided he still wasn’t ready to date and they were figuring out a way to fix their work schedules so that somebody would be home with Adam at all times so that he wouldn’t be able to take his walks to the park anymore.
It was the same as always. He knew his mother and his half-brothers loved him, but they didn’t seem to understand that just because he was blind didn’t mean he should be treated like a child.
Adam slammed his hands down on the table and stood up. He wasn’t going to let it happen like all of the other times. He was going to fight for Michael. “All three of you seem to have forgotten that I am an adult and capable of making my own decisions. I am going to continue seeing Michael and I hope that you’ll take the time to get to know him.”
With that being said he made his way to his bedroom to sleep. He was exhausted. The house wasn’t empty when he woke up though. Dean was waiting for him at the kitchen table with breakfast. He ignored Dean as best as he could and when he finished breakfast he grabbed his walking stick and headed for the door. He found his way blocked by Dean.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re actually going to keep me from going to the park.”
“It’s for your own good.”
Adam’s jaw dropped. “For my own good? How exactly is it for my own good?”
Dean didn’t answer him nor did he budge from his position in front of the door. Adam knew that if he went for the back door then Dean would just block him there too. No matter what Adam did today he was going to have a shadow and that shadow wasn’t going to let him out of the house.
Adam let out a huff and then headed for his room, slamming the door behind him. Childish, but it was either that or punch Dean.
He put on some music and tried his best to forget about everything else.
He didn’t know how much time has passed when there was a knock at the front door. He turned his music off and went to his door to listen.
“My name is Michael and I’m a friend of Adam’s. He wasn’t in the park today so I wanted to make sure that he was okay.”
Adam flung open his door and hurried out, catching Dean telling Michael that Adam wasn’t at the park because he wasn’t feeling well and that it was nothing to worry about. Adam was standing right behind Dean when he finished talking.
“He looks just fine to me,” Michael stated. Adam could hear the smirk in his voice and didn’t resist the urge to smile.
“Adam, get back inside,” Dean ordered.
“I am inside,” he couldn’t resist saying.
“Adam is legally an adult, Dean. You can’t keep him here against his will.”
Adam used Dean’s shock that someone actually dared to speak to him in that manner to push past him. Strong arms wrapped around him and Adam was safely pressed against Michael.
“By the way, Dean, your brother and my brother are very close. Did you know that?”
Adam could tell by Dean’s silence that he hadn’t. He let Michael steer him towards his car. It wasn’t until Michael was actually driving that Adam spoke up. “Thanks for getting me out of there.”
“I take it the talking didn’t go well.”
“Nope. As you saw they still believe that controlling my life is the way to protect me.”
“I’ll go inside with you later when I take you home, see if I can’t help smooth things over. Let’s try and forget about it now though and enjoy some lunch.”
That sounded like a really good plan to Adam. Except his stomach was in knots the entirety of lunch. He couldn’t stop worrying about what had happened and what was going to happen. He didn’t regret any of his actions. His family was being unfair and things could have gone a lot worse, but he loved his family and he wanted them in his life. He wanted them to be okay with him having a boyfriend and he wanted them to be okay with Michael.
“You’re thinking too hard.”
Adam jumped, surprised that he had been caught so unaware. He was usually very aware of his surroundings.
Adam let out a sigh. “I’m sorry.”
“Maybe I should take you home now.”
Adam let out another sigh and slumped back against his chair. “Yeah, I guess you should.”
In the car Michael squeezed Adam’s hand as he drove. “We’ll get through this, Adam.”
Adam smiled and gave Michael’s hand a squeeze. He liked the way Michael had said “we’ll” instead of “you’ll”.
“I hate to freak you out more, Adam, but it looks like the rest of your family is home now.”
Adam let out a groan. “Great. That’s just perfect. This is not going to go well.”
“Relax, Adam, and remember what I said.”
Adam nodded and took a deep breath before opening the car door and stepping out. He let Michael lead him to the house. He didn’t want Michael to leave his side. He was certain Michael wouldn’t.
Michael introduced himself to Sam and his mother, and it was Adam’s mother who brought up their current predicament.
“The three of us did some talking while you were out, Adam. It seems Sam here knows one of Michael’s younger brothers and while they fight the way that brothers will do, it would seem that Michael takes good care of them and protects them.”
Adam couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He had thought for sure that he would be in trouble for having run out the way he had. He had thought for sure that they would try and keep him from seeing Michael.
“And what you said last night was true. You are an adult and you’re capable of making your own decisions. We just worry about you, sweetheart.”
“I know, Mom.” He lost Michael’s hand when his mom came over and enveloped him in a hug. He heard Sam talking to Michael about his brother. The only person who didn’t seem willing to accept this was Dean. He knew Dean would need time. He was almost as protective with Adam as he was with Sam. That didn’t bother him. Sam and Dean had grown up together after all.
Adam decided not to push the issue for now, especially since his mother had just invited Michael to stay for dinner. His mother, Michael, and Sam kept the conversation flowing during dinner. He could feel Dean glaring at him and Michael, and knew he was going to have to find a way to fix things with him.
“Do you want me there when you talk to him?” Michael whispered in his ear. Adam shook his head. He was going to have to talk to Dean on his own. Michael squeezed the spot just above his knee in understanding.
After dinner, Adam walked Michael to the door.
“Think you’ll be able to come back to the park tomorrow?”
Adam grinned at him. “Yeah. I don’t think it will be a problem.”
Michael left and Adam stood by the door for a few minutes trying to figure out how to best approach Dean. The decision was taken from him when Dean appeared by his side.
“I need you to be okay with this, Dean.”
Dean let out a sigh and clapped a hand down on his shoulder. “I know, kid. I just… Okay, you’re going to want to call me a lot of names for this, but I was prepared for you dating when I thought it was going to be a girl. But you’re dating a guy and while I don’t have a problem with the guy thing I guess I feel like I have to worry even more about someone taking advantage of you. A guy could really hurt you, and not just emotionally.”
Dean stopped talking and Adam found himself doubling over in laughter. Dean waited impatiently as Adam fought to get himself under control. Finally the laughter subsided. “Dean, I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk so much before.” He could feel Dean scowling at him.
“I worry about you, you ass.”
Adam snorted and tried to keep himself from laughing again. “I know, Dean. I really do, but believe me, I am fully aware of the fact that it would be easy to take advantage of me, and not just guys. Girls could too. I’m also fully aware that someone might date me because they take pity on me. That doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t get out there and try, and I really like Michael.”
“Yeah, I know, but I’ll be keeping my eye on him.”
Adam smiled at him. “I think I would be offended if you didn’t.”
Dean snorted and cuffed the back of Adam’s head before walking out the door.
*****
Michael was warm. Michael was always warm. Adam snuggled further into Michael’s side, soaking up as much heat as he could. Michael’s arm was draped across his shoulder and he gave him a squeeze.
Adam let out a sigh. They were sitting on their usual park bench and Adam couldn’t be happier. He let himself doze, allowing himself to become less aware of the world around him because he was safe with Michael.
“Would you like to come to my place for dinner tonight?” Michael asked him, rousing him from his doze. “Just dinner,” Michael clarified, correctly guessing at what had run through Adam’s mind at the invitation.
Adam felt himself blushing. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to, he just didn’t want to rush into anything. His disability had made him cautious. Talking to Michael and allowing the man to get close when he had barely even known him had probably been the first time that Adam hadn’t been cautious.
“Dinner sounds good.”
“Good. I’ll pick you up at seven, but I actually have to get back to work now.”
Adam groaned but pulled away from Michael and stood up. Michael hugged him and kissed him and then Adam was making his way home.
The rest of the day dragged for him. He was anxious about his date with Michael, but he was really excited as well. Michael had said that it would just be dinner and Adam was glad for that, but surely they could do something more than kissing. His stomach gave a pleasant jolt at that thought.
Someone knocked on his door and Adam called out for them to come in. It was Dean. “I hear tonight’s a big deal.”
“It’s just dinner.”
“Is that why you’re fussing with your clothes and hair?”
“It’s just dinner,” Adam repeated. Dean walked up to him and put his hands on his shoulders. He cleared his throat. He was clearly uncomfortable. “Anything you want to talk about?” he finally asked.
Adam snorted. “Somehow I don’t think you’re the one I should be asking.”
Dean chuckled. “Fine. Okay. Just make sure that you’re safe.”
“Dean, it really is just dinner. I’m not planning on anything else happening.”
“Doesn’t mean that it won’t.”
Adam was saved from having to answer by the ringing of the doorbell. He ran to the front door and opened it, inhaling the scent of Michael that he had come to know and love. He offered Michael a huge grin.
“Ready to go?”
Adam nodded and Michael led him out to the car. Adam chattered nervously during the car ride and Michael didn’t try and interrupt him once.
When Michael opened the front door for Adam, his sense of smell was completely bombarded by what promised to be, if the smell was anything to go by, a truly spectacular dinner. His mouth was already watering.
Michael walked him through the house, letting him familiarize himself with the place. Finally Michael led him to the table for dinner.
Adam had never experienced a feast quite like this. The steak was tender and melted in his mouth, the vegetables were seasoned perfectly, and the loaded mashed potatoes were heavenly.
Dinner conversation was easy. Michael told him about the case he was working on and Adam talked about the latest music he was into. Adam had been worried that at some point the eleven year age difference would be an issue, but it wasn’t. Adam figured it was because he was pretty mature for his age. Being blind had made him grow up faster than he should have.
When dinner was done he groaned and slouched back in his chair. Michael chuckled. “I’m going to take that as a compliment.”
“You definitely should. You keep feeding me like that and you won’t ever be able to get rid of me.”
“Good.”
Adam smiled and blushed. He heard Michael clearing the dishes off the table and then the sound of running water as he began washing them. Taking a risk since he still didn’t know the place very well, Adam got up and made his way slowly to where Michael was, wrapping his arms around him. Michael paused to pat his hand but then he was back to washing the dishes.
When he finished he turned around in Adam’s arms, wrapping his own around Adam, and kissed him. Adam kissed Michael back eagerly, a certain part of his anatomy taking an interest. Apparently Dean was right about this happening even if you don’t plan on it. Adam wanted this.
“There’s no rush,” Michael murmured against his lips.
“I know, but I want this.”
Michael tugged him towards the bedroom, the two of them leaving a trail of clothes in their wake.
*****
Adam couldn’t stop smiling as he walked through the front door. Dean was standing there waiting for him.
“I don’t need to see you to know you’re smirking.”
“That’s a pretty big smile for just dinner.”
“Shut up, Dean.”
Adam could hear Dean’s laughter even after he was already in the bedroom with his door closed. It didn’t matter. Adam was too happy to care.

I loved every word. Michael and Adam's relationship progressed quickly, but the pace was unrushed, pretty much perfect. I also found the characterization and little details - career choices and the like - spot on. Not to mention, this was absolutely adorable. ;A;

And at least it wasn't like insta love or something!! It took them weeks to even go to lunch together :)
Yay for Michael/Adam adorableness!!

At the rate I'm going it's going to be over 10,000 words before Derek and Stiles finally kiss. Maybe even over 15,000. Hell, it might even be over 20,000 if things keep going this well.
