Spencer took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Hotch called out for him to enter, and when he did, he stood by the door, not knowing how Hotch would take this.
Hotch looked up at him. “What can I do for you, Reid?”
So they were to be on a last name basis then. Fine. “I want you to reconsider, Hotch.”
Hotch put down his pen and folded his hands on his desk.
“I can’t, Spencer.”
“Because I’m too young. I know. I just can’t believe you would let something like that get in the way, Aaron. The other night was good. Really good. Are you really going let the age difference get in the way of that?”
Hotch looked at him sadly and Spencer took the seat across the desk. “You’re just a child, Spencer.”
“I haven’t been a child for a long time,” he replied quietly.
Spencer could be giving Hotch facts and figures right now about relationships like this worked all of the time, or how it didn’t matter that Spencer was younger because mentally he was far more advanced than Hotch. Given, he was emotionally young, but he had come a long way since he’d first met Hotch. He’d been through a lot.
That’s not how he wanted to win Hotch over though, so he kept his mouth shut. Spencer reached a hand across the desk and laid it on top of Hotch’s. “I’m not giving up, Aaron. I feel too strongly about you to do that.”
He stood up and left without another word. He had work to do. Normally, he would go to Morgan if he needed advice or needed to talk, but that wasn’t going to cut it this time.
In the morning, he would be talking to JJ, Prentiss, and Garcia. If anyone could help Spencer make Hotch see him beyond a number, it was them.

Then again, most pairs start like this and over time I'm not able NOT to see it all around.
But I enjoyed, anyway. It was really nice. ^^
