Time passed differently here. He didn’t know if it had been days since he had faced Lucifer, or months. All he knew was that he was lonely and bored. He missed living among the humans and he missed his vessel, but most of all, he missed chocolate. Okay. He didn’t really miss chocolate most of all. He missed companionship as well. There was nobody here that he wanted to associate with.
“Fancy meeting you here.”
If Gabriel could jump, he would have. He still wasn’t used to not being in human form and he wasn’t used to hearing someone’s voice, but not really hearing it. It was all very confusing to explain to someone who wasn’t actually here experiencing it.
“Crowley. Did the Winchesters finally get sick of you?”
“Oh no, love. This is courtesy of your little brother.”
“Castiel?”
“Who else?”
“Are he and Dean still making eyes at each other?”
“I probably wouldn’t be here if they had finally moved past that.”
Gabriel laughed. “No, you probably wouldn’t be.”
“It’s funny. I was looking for purgatory and now here I am.”
“But at least you have me for company.” Gabriel really wished he had eyebrows to waggle because it just wasn’t the same without them.
“Things are always more interesting with you around.”
“Why Crowley, I do believe you’ve missed me.”
Crowley groaned. “You haven’t changed at all, have you?”
“Did you not? Miss me, I mean.” Gabriel was suddenly worried. Whatever he and Crowley had had between them, it had been good. It had been pleasurable for both parties, and they had always had fun together. What if things had changed after Gabriel had died though? What if Crowley had forgotten all about him? Had it been long enough for that to happen?
Crowley shifted beside him, and their spirits, he supposed you could call them that, for lack of a better word anyway, touched, and he knew Crowley would be able to feel everything he was feeling.
“Bloody idiot. Do you think it was just a coincidence that I was looking for purgatory?”
Gabriel had heard about Crowley looking for purgatory, but he honestly hadn’t given much thought as to why.
Crowley shifted closer so that they were overlapping now, and Gabriel stopped focusing on what he was feeling, and instead focused on what Crowley was feeling. Crowley had been telling the truth. He had been looking for purgatory because he had been looking for Gabriel.
He could feel Crowley’s overwhelming happiness at having found Gabriel again, even if it hadn’t been the way he intended. He pushed himself further into Crowley, and Crowley pushed back, and soon they were intertwined.
It was so much better than anything humans could come up with. It was so much more intimate, and so much more pleasurable. They were closer to one another than any two humans could ever get. If he could smile, he would.
For the first time since Lucifer had banished him here, he felt happiness and he felt hope. He was no longer looking at spending an eternity alone. And Crowley really wasn’t a bad guy, even though he was a demon. Gabriel could forgive him that one flaw.
