Dean had just arrived back at the motel after picking up dinner for him and Sam. Cat toys were strewn across the floor and Sam was laughing as Cas dangled one of the toys for Catiel to bat at.

Dean dropped the food down on the table as Cas picked up the Catiel and walked over to Dean, handing him the kitten and giving him a kiss.

“Hello Dean.”

“Uh, hi Cas. Hey there, Catiel.” He scratched behind Catiel’s ear before sneaking a look over at Sam. It looked like Sam was trying really hard not laugh. Fantastic.

Cas hadn’t kissed him again since that first time in the motel room after he had watched Catiel for him. He had no idea what Cas was doing.

The next day, he and Sam were sitting in the Impala and heading towards their next hunt. He was hoping that Sam wouldn’t bring up what had happened in the motel room, but of course that would have been too much to ask for.

“So, you and Cas. What’s that about?”

Dean didn’t answer, he just gripped the steering wheel tighter and hoped that Sam would just shut up.

“Dean, if you don’t answer me now, I will tease you about this relentlessly. But if you talk, I’ll keep the teasing to a minimum.”

“You shouldn’t tease me at all if I talk.”

“Yeah, I don’t think so.”

Dean sighed knowing he had no choice. Actually, he was pretty lucky. He knew if their positions had been reversed, then he would tease Sam relentlessly and that would be that.

“Fine, but there’s nothing to tell. He’s kissed me one other time and that’s been it.”

“Do you want there to be more?”

“Yeah, I think I do.”

Later that night, it was Sam who went off to grab dinner for the both of them. Almost immediately after Sam left, Cas and Catiel showed up. Dean had been waiting on the bed for them, cat toys already out for Catiel.

“Hey guys.”

“Hello Dean.”

Cas approached him and leaned down to kiss him. He didn’t bother questioning it, didn’t want to talk about it, instead, he placed his hand on the back of Cas’ neck and kissed him just a little bit longer. Cas hummed in approval, but they broke the kiss when Catiel started meowing loudly at them.

Dean chuckled and grabbed one of the toys to toss across the room for Catiel to chase after. When Sam got back to the motel, Dean was laughing as Catiel was wrestling around with Cas. Sam looked over at him and smiled. He seemed to be genuinely happy for Dean.

They were sitting in the Impala the next day when Sam brought up him and Cas again.

“So, are we gonna have to start getting separate rooms now?”

Dean looked away from the road long enough to glare at Sam who was smirking at him. Dean turned his attention back to the road before answering.

“Yeah, maybe we should.”

It was strange having his own room after having sharing with Sam for the past few years.

Cas appeared next to him very suddenly.

“Hello Dean.”

“Hey Cas.”

And just like he had been doing, Cas kissed him. Before Dean could respond, Cas broke off the kiss and looked at him.

“I stopped by Sam’s room first and left Catiel with him.”

Dean laughed, pulled Cas back in for a kiss, and led them towards the bed, planning on taking full advantage of the fact that Sam had the cat for the night.
