He had seen the reports from sickbay and from engineering. He knew the kind of day his husband had endured. He knew the mood that Bones would be in when he got back to their quarters.

Bones had just commed him to let him know he was on his way. So, Jim was waiting by the door, a glass of bourbon in his hand, ready to pass on to Bones.

Sure enough, Bones walked in looking like the living dead. He hated seeing his husband like this.

Bones gave Jim a quick kiss hello and took the glass of bourbon from him gratefully.

“Thanks Jim.” Jim grabbed his hand and tugged him towards the couch.

“Come on Bones. Let’s get you off your feet.” Jim situated himself and Bones so that Bones was leaning against him. He wrapped his arms around Bones and held him tight. They sat in silence for a while, Jim pressing kisses to Bones’ temple periodically.

It was nice that they could do this for each other, that they could be here for each other, with nothing but silence and the warmth of each other. Bones was still too tense though.

“Okay Bones. This isn’t working. Get up.”

“What are you doing, Jim?”

“Don’t worry. You’ll like this. Get up, get undressed, and go lay down on the bed, facedown.”

Bones turned his head to look at Jim, raising an eyebrow, but got up and did what Jim had wanted. Jim went to the bedroom drawer and rummaged around until he found what he was looking for.

He joined his husband on the bed, straddling him while still fully clothed. He popped open the top of the massage oil and poured some into the palm of his hand. He rubbed his hands together to warm up the oil and started massaging Bones’ back.

He started along Bones’ shoulders making sure to work out the couple of knots that he found, before moving on. He could feel the tension melting away as he slowly made his way lower and lower along Bones’ back.

By the time he reached Bones’ lower back, he was pretty sure that his husband was just minutes away from falling asleep. He was achingly hard now, and he would stay that way tonight. Nothing mattered except making Bones feel better. Tonight was all about Bones.

Bones’ breathing had completely evened out beneath him, and there wasn’t a tense muscle to be found. Even Bones’ face was tension free.

He carefully got off of his husband, and covered him up, before stripping himself and joining Bones under the covers. He had thought that Bones had already fallen asleep, and was surprised when an arm wrapped around him and pulled him close.

Bones pressed a soft kiss to his lips and whispered in his ear.

“Thank you, Jim.”

“Anything for you, Bones. Now, get some sleep.” He held Bones in his arms, stroking a hand lazily along his back. Nothing made him happier than when Bones was happy, and even more so when it was him that made Bones happy.

He fell asleep with Bones in his arms, thinking about how lucky he was to have Bones in his life.
