A/N: So, [livejournal.com profile] hakkai_duo and I were talking about Castiel the other day, and I had a little typo. We had a good laugh and decided this crack needed to be written.

Also, still only on the second season.

Dean could swear that Cas’ trench coat was purring.

“Cas, what the hell do you have in your coat?”

Cas opened his coat and pulled out a tiny kitten.

“You have a kitten in your coat?”

Cas held out the kitten to Dean. Dean took the purring ball of fur into his hands. He had to admit, but not to Cas, and definitely not to Sam, the kitten was really cute.

“Dean, meet Catiel.”

“Catiel? Are you kidding me, Cas?”

“You do not like his name?”

“It’s not that, Cas. It’s just…Catiel. Castiel.”

Cas just tilted his head and looked at Dean like Dean was the one not making any sense. He handed the kitten back to Cas. Cas held the kitten close to him, stroking him gently. The kitten continued to purr.

Finally, Cas held up the kitten and nuzzled him before putting him back in his coat.

“Cas man, you are one strange angel.”

********

Dean had just walked out of the motel room to get some food for him and Sam, when Cas appeared before him.

“Dean.”

Cas look distressed, and though Cas had been the deliverer of some ominous news before, Cas seemed really bothered right now.

“Dean, I can’t find Catiel.”

“You mean your little kitten?”

“Yes. He’s missing.”

If it had been anyone else, Dean was sure he would have made some inappropriate comment, but this was Cas, and he’d never seen Cas look so miserable before.

“Okay, just relax Cas. Did he go missing today, or was it earlier than that?”

“I had him with me this morning and now he’s gone.”

“Okay. Well, why don’t you tell me where you were today.”

He listened as Cas talked to him and wondered how the hell they were going to find a kitten. A kitten could be anywhere, and it was so tiny that it would be really hard to find.

Honestly, the things he was willing to do for Cas. The only other person he would ever bend over backwards for would be Sam. Even then, he would tease the hell out of Sam.

They spent the rest of the day searching for the kitten. They’d had absolutely no luck, and were now on the last place that Cas had mentioned. They had separated so they could cover more ground. Dean was now searching the lower level of an abandoned house. He figured the kitten was too tiny to make it up the stairs.

He was looking through the kitchen when he heard a soft purring sound. It led him to a corner where he found a tiny ball of fur curled up and purring, barely visible.

“There you are, Catiel. Cas had been worried sick about you. How did you even get away from him?”

“Meow.”

Dean laughed and picked up the kitten. He really was adorable.

“Cas,” he called out. Cas appeared by his side.

“Dean. You found him.”

Dean handed over the kitten to Cas. He didn’t smile, but there was a light in his eyes that let Dean know just how much that kitten had come to mean to Cas.

Cas turned his attention back to Dean.

“Thank you, Dean.”

“No problem, Cas. That’s what friends are for.”

“Friends.”

“Yeah, Cas. Friends.”

Dean’s breath caught at the look that Cas was giving him. It made something twist inside of him. That was new. He watched as Cas played with the kitten, and a warmth spread throughout his entire body. That was definitely new. Something to think about. Later. Right now he was content to watch Cas and Catiel.
